The Lal Carbon Center is thrilled to share a major milestone in global collaboration and education. Dr. Rattan Lal has announced a new partnership with two of his alma maters in India—the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) and Punjab Agricultural University (PAU)—launching a vibrant scholar exchange program that will strengthen research ties across continents.
Beginning this year, the program will welcome four scholars annually from these esteemed institutions to The Ohio State University, where they will study, collaborate, and conduct research under the guidance of Dr. Lal and his team. The first two scholars arrived in March: Dr. Ram Swaroop Bana (IARI) and Dr. Gobinder Singh (PAU). This initiative reflects Dr. Lal’s long‑standing commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists and fostering international cooperation in agricultural and environmental research.
Scholars selected for the program will gain full access to the world‑class facilities and resources of the Lal Carbon Center, including research laboratories, field projects, academic mentorship, and professional development opportunities. The partnership is designed to create a dynamic environment for learning, innovation, and cultural exchange—strengthening global efforts to advance soil health, carbon management, and sustainable land stewardship.
This exciting new collaboration not only honors Dr. Lal’s legacy and connection to his roots in India but also sets the stage for transformative research that spans continents. The Lal Carbon Center looks forward to welcoming the inaugural scholars and celebrating the discoveries and partnerships that will grow from this initiative.
