September 22, 2021 - Dr. Lal was honored to participate in the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture's (IICA) UNFSS side event entitled: Living Soils of the Americas: a integrated approach to improve soil health and agrifood systems. The UN FSS will discuss, consolidate and operationalize actions to transform the way the world produces and consumes food. This initiative is part of the Decade of Action that seeks to accelerate progress on all SDGs, which requires advancing to healthier, more sustainable, resilient and equitable agrifood systems. In this sense, the Living Soils of the Americas, an initiative led by the IICA - Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture in partnership with the Rattan Lal Center for Carbon Management and Sequestration of the Ohio State University, aims to facilitate the collaboration among multisectoral actors to improve soil health and carbon sequestration in agricultural lands. In this very exciting side event of the UN FSS, IICA will count with the experience of Prof. Rattan Lal and other selected partners to discuss the solutions that will put the agri-food systems as a key component to provide healthy food and mitigate climate change.
